Maggie was born and raised in a small town, near Montreal, Canada. She was always involved in some type of team sport, without being totally dedicated to a particular one. After a bad knee injury requiring two surgeries, she was forced to swim for rehab and surprisingly, quite enjoyed it! After graduating from college, she moved to New York City to pursue her studies in Podiatric Medicine. She soon realized that she could only fit running as a form of exercise in her busy schedule. Never having ran long distance before (she specialzed in 100m dash in high school) she started with a mere…12min of continous running. Followed by 14 min the following week; so on and so forth. She got introduced to the sport of triathlon on a quick vacation home. After DNFing her first race and finishing second to last in the following one, she persuaded herself that she was better than that. After some hard work and dedication, she continued to enjoy tris and has now been racing for the past 10 years. Specializing in long distance tris, she represented Canada and USA in various World Championships, and even own a National Champion title for her age-group victory in 2008 National Long Course Championship, finishing second overall. She will be again, representing Canada at Ironman World Championships in Kona this upcoming October.
She feels honored to be part of this Tri Group, in quest to either become an Ironman , or to improve on a previous Ironman PR. She will guiding this fun group throughout this wonderful journey, through the bad but mostly through the good. Bring it on!
